About

The Malta Chronicle (TMC) is a collaborative online experiment edited by Jacques René Zammit. The original idea was conceived for Malta’s National Elections in 2008 and registered a relative success.

TMC was  “revived” in January 2009 on the current address in order to follow the European Parliament Election Campaign ’09 in Malta. A group of established bloggers, former bloggers and interested readers were invited to give their perspective on anything relating to the EP election campaign. The contributors came from different walks of life and, if one can still say so in this day and age, had different ideological points of view. TMC does not claim impartiality – in fact every author is partial in his or her own way. What is hoped is that TMC will provide an open platform for the exchange of ideas and analysis of the goings-on away from the MSM and partisan media.

In this light TMC is another tool in the not so hidden j’accuse program of changing the way we think and changing the way we think about each other. Feel free to comment and participate – have your own say!

Fast forward to May 2011 and TMC is back online with a new agenda. This time it is serving as the home base for the Blogosfera’s Divorce Debate Network – a project linking blogs discussing divorce in the run up to the referendum. 21 days of thinking different – from the 7th of May to the 28th of May: the day Malta gives its advice to the 69 parliamentarians charged with legislating (or not) on divorce.
